> Controlling is the process of checking,measuring and regulating the ongoing activity.It compare actual performance with the standard performance to ensure that, all activity are performed as per plan, all resources are performed as per plan and corrective action is taken in case of any deviation.
Following are its features;

• It is an essential managerial function at every level.
• It is regular exercise.
• It is forward looking.
• It is both negative and positive.
• It is needed at all level of management.
• It can not be exercised without plan.
• It is last function of management.

>It is an essential feature of scientific and successful management.It focus on the improvement of controlled technique.

#3. Relation between planning and controlling?

• Planning is meaningless without controlling.
• Controlling is blind without planning.
• Planning can be successful only in the absence of controlling.
• If the process of controlling is taken away from the management no person working according to the plan and plan will fail.
• Under controlling actual work is compared with the standard if a standard are not determined there is no justification left for controlling It is therefore said that controlling is blind without planning.

#4. Difference between planning and controlling?

> It is correct that planning and controlling are incomplete without each other but it does not mean that both are not independent.

• Plans are always formulate for future.on the contrary controlling is looking back because a Manager tried to find out after the work is completed.
• Planning is formulated on the basis of happening of the past on the other hand controlling evaluate the work done in the past but under it corrective action is taken in respect of future.

Hence there should not be any hesitation in saying that planning look backward while controlling look ahead.

> The process of controlling includes the following steps.

       Step1.established standard of performance.standard may be following two types.

 (a) quantitative standard (b). qualitative standard

       Step2.Measuring the actual performance.

       Step3.Comparing actual with standard performance.

       Step4.Finding out causes of deviation.

       Step5.Taking corrective action.

> Following are features of good controlled system;

• Control system should be clear easy to understand and simple.
• Control system should focus on objective of organisation.
• It should suitable for the organisation.
• It should be economical in term of money ,time and energy.
• It should be flexible.
• It should be suggestive.
• It should be forward looking.
